STARS Theater Company announces teen auditions for MARY POPPINS, Saturday, February 3, 12:30pm-4:30pm.  Auditions will be held at the Community Building, 2012 Shady Brook in Bedford. 

Based on the popular movie starring Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke, the "practically perfect" musical has plenty of male and female roles for teens.  All roles will be played by young people and all interested students ages 13-18 are encouraged to attend. The cast of delightful characters includes Mary Poppins, Bert, George, Winifred, Michael, Jane, and their friends at 17 Cherry Tree Lane.  

Play a part in STARS 2024 Season of musicals as we celebrate 30 years of educational theater.  The production will be directed by Lu Anne Tyson.  Students work with STARS’ professional staff including our voice instructor, dance instructor and director.  Performances are scheduled for June 21-23 & 28-30.  Rehearsals will be the 1st & 3rd Saturdays of each month at 2012 Shady Brook in Bedford. STARS Theater Company invites local young people to join the 29th Annual Fall & Winter Youth Musicals.  Interested students will perform in the upcoming musicals, Disney’s JUNGLE BOOK Kids for ages 8-12, and JAMES AND THE GIANT PEACH for teens.  Auditions are scheduled for Saturday, August 5, and all interested students are encouraged to attend.

Based on Roald Dahl's quirky story, JAMES AND THE GIANT PEACH JR. is a "masterpeach" of a tale. When James is sent by his conniving aunts to chop down the old peach tree, his delicious adventure begins.  He discovers a magic potion that grows a giant peach and launches a journey of enormous proportions.   He befriends a motley group of singing insects that join his journey in the giant peach across the ocean, facing hunger, sharks and struggles along the way.  Teens will enjoy the wickedly tuneful score and witty dialogue.  Characters include James, his wicked aunts, Spider & Sponge; the singing insects, Ladybug, Grasshopper, Earthworm, Centipede, Spider and Glow Worm; the magic wizard, Ladahlord and many more.  Most roles can be played by male or female actors and all roles will be played by students. 

Ages 8-12 will have a blast in Disney’s JUNGLE BOOK Kids, adapted from the classic Disney animated film.   Banished by the ferocious tiger, Shere Khan, Mowgli and his panther friend, Bagheera, are on the run. Along the way they meet a sinister snake named Kaa, a herd of elephants and a giant bear named Baloo, who teaches them the swinging rhythm of the jungle. Their adventure continues after a dangerous encounter with King Louie and his band of monkeys. When Shere Khan returns, they must rally their friends to battle and restore peace in the jungle.  Kids ages 8-12 will have a blast in this jungle jumping with jazzy tunes including I Wanna Be Like You and, everyone’s favorite, Bare Necessities.  The musical is packed with great roles for boys and girls and a delightful toe tapping score.

STARS Theater Company announces a Summer Theater acting adventure, PAN, for ages 7-12, July 10-14. The amazing adventure awaits in Neverland with Peter Pan, Captain Hook, and his band of wily pirates. STARS Summer Theater Camp will be held at at 2012 Shady Brook in Bedford.

Local teens are encouraged to audition for Disney’s BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, STARS Theater Company’s 29th Annual Summer Musical.  Young actors ages 8-12 are invited to audition for the hilarious musical, THE EMPEROR’S NEW CLOTHES.  Auditions are scheduled for Saturday, February 4 at 2012 Shady Brook in Bedford.  All interested students are encouraged to audition.

Teenagers audition for Disney’s BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, 12:30pm-4:30pm

THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS is a delightful adaptation of the Alice In Wonderland story.   The musical is packed with great characters for both boys and girls including Alice, Red Queen, White Queen, Red Knight, White Knight, Tweedle Dee & Tweedle Dum, Humpty Dumpty, and many more.  The upbeat score is filled with great songs such as “Was It All Just A Dream”, the toe tapping favorite, “I Was A Good Egg” and more.

Local teens will enjoy the enchanting production of Disney’s BEAUTY AND THE BEAST.  The musical tells the story of Belle who finds herself in the castle with a prince who’s changed into a mysterious Beast.  Join the enchanting cast of characters;  Belle, Beast,  Lumierre, Cogsworth, Babette, Ms. Potts, Chip, Gaston, Lefou, and many more as they teach us all the true meaning of beauty. This “tale as old as time” is based on the Academy Award winning animated film and includes favorite songs such as “Beauty and the Beast”, “Me”, “Be Our Guest”, and many more.   Performances are currently scheduled for June 16-18 & 23-25.

Kids ages 8-12 are invited to take the stage in the hilarious musical, THE ELVES AND THE SHOEMAKER as part of STARS Theater Company’s 28th Youth Season.  If you’ve always dreamed of acting or you’re a seasoned young performer there is a place for you in this delightful production.   STARS is an educational theater producing musicals with local young people for 28 years.  In addition to THE ELVES & THE SHOEMAKER, local teens will present Disney’s NEWSIES, Jr.  Interested students of both ages have one more chance to audition.

The hilarious musical, ELVES & THE SHOEMAKER, is based on the classic story of a kind shoemaker with a gentle heart and no money.  This show has it all:  a nasty villainess, a humble hero, and a cast filled with plenty of kooky characters for boys and girls alike.  Young actors will have a blast portraying Lockhardt, the shoemaker; Sneerella Twerm, the evil landlady; Mrs. Snootbottom, the town snob;  the hysterical elves, Mortz, Schwartz, Hazel, Gracie, and Studebaker; and many more loveable friends in the magical town of Clankbottom.  The musical score includes songs such as “Enough, Enough”, “They’re Wonderful”, and “Bless This House”.  All roles will be played by young people.

Seize the Day! Local teens are invited to audition for Disney’s NEWSIES, Jr.  The high energy musical will be presented with STARS Theater Company’s 2022 Fall & Winter Season and all interested teen actors are encouraged to audition.  STARS is an educational theater producing musicals with local young people for 28 years.  In addition to teens, young actors ages 8-12 are encouraged to audition for the comedy musical THE ELVES & THE SHOEMAKER.

Disney’s NEWSIES Jr is based on the 1992 film and the 2012 Broadway hit about the newsboy strike in 1899.  When titans of publishing, Joseph Pulitzer and William Randolph Hearst, raise distribution prices at the newsboys’ expense, the newsies from across the city rally together to strike against the unfair conditions and fight for what's right!    The Tony Award winning score includes songs such as “Seize the Day”, “Carrying The Banner”, and “Santa Fe”.

Local residents have one more chance to see the sweetest show in town, WILLY WONKA.  STARS Theater Company will present the final performance of Roald Dahl's world-famous candy man at 3pm this Sunday at Legacy Church of Christ, 8801 Mid Cities Blvd in North Richland Hills. 

The musical production is adapted from the 1971 film starring Gene Wilder. The enchanting score includes songs such as “Pure Imagination”, Golden Age of Chocolate, and -of course- “The Candy Man”.  The famous candy maker, Willy Wonka, has hidden five golden tickets in candy bars all over the world and the winners will receive a lifetime supply of chocolate.  Four of the five winning children are insufferable brats: the fifth is a likeable young boy named Charlie Bucket.  The children must learn to follow factory rules... or suffer the consequences.

STARS’ production of WILLY WONKA stars several local young people.   Everyone’s favorite candy man, Willy Wonka, is brought to life by North Richland Hills resident, Neil Tucker.  Nicholas Martinez of Flower Mound takes on the role of Charlie Bucket; and the bratty kids, Augustus Gloop, Violet Beauregarde, Veruca Salt, and Mike Teavee are played by Kaleb Rentschuler of Richland Hills, Mattie Stephens of Bedford, Catryna Little of Euless, and Carson Hawkins from Bedford.  The production is directed by Lu Anne Tyson of Hurst with vocal direction by Monica Dane of Grapevine and choreography is by Kellie Grant of North Richland Hills.  The Music Conductor is Dax Stokes from Denton.

STARS Theater Company announces a fun filled week of theater for kids ages 7-12, July 11-15. The joy of acting awaits as the young actors spend their days in TOYSCHOOL, laughing and learning in the colossal comedy set in a college for misfit toys. The camp will be held at the Community Building located at 2012 Shady Brook in Bedford.

 

TOYSCHOOL tells the story of a Toy Soldier who cannot march; a Glow Toy that is not too bright; Prima Donna, a ballerina doll that cannot dance; Jig & Saw, puzzle pieces that can’t get along; a Jack in The Box with poor timing, and a class filled with hilarity. Ms. Grouchstick heads the school, but is she a teacher or a witch? As the toys try to graduate and earn their price tags, they overcome their weaknesses and soon realize that everyone is good at something.

So you want to be an actor?  Join STARS Theater Company on an adventure to the MAGICAL LAND OF OZ.  Children ages 8-12 are encouraged to join the cast of STARS next children’s musical.   Auditions for STARS’ production of MAGICAL LAND OF OZ will be Saturday, February 5 from 9am-noon at the Community Building of the First United Methodist Church in Bedford located at 2012 Shady Brook in Bedford, 76021.  All interested students ages 8-12 are encouraged to audition.  Performances are scheduled for May 5-7.

L. Frank Baum’s classic story will come to life on the Bedford stage.  With help from the Good Witch Glinda, Dorothy and her pals Scarecrow, Tin Man and Lion travel to the Emerald City in search of the Wizard.   All your favorite characters sing and dance their way through the forest with a musical score full of upbeat songs such as “I’ve Got The Power,” and “Follow The Road.”

Join Charlie Bucket on his golden adventure to Wonka's mysterious chocolate factory in STARS Theater Company’s production of WILLY WONKA.  Auditions are Saturday, February 5, 12:30pm-4:30pm at the Community Building of the First United Methodist Church in Bedford. Local teens are encouraged to audition.
