The Stayton at Museum Way Welcomes International Pianist Alex McDonald for Special Performance

The Stayton at Museum Way, Fort Worth’s resort-style retirement community, is excited to announce the launch of a new event series that will focus on offering its residents and special guests the opportunity to hear a variety of remarkable artists perform live at The Stayton. The community has been dedicated to regularly providing a fun and intellectually stimulating atmosphere with a variety of activities on campus and raised the bar with The Stayton’s Red Carpet Speaker Series®, which brings in charismatic personalities and distinguished individuals. Now The Stayton Cliburn Recital Series will bring Fort Worth’s spectacular art and culture right to The Stayton’s stage.

The community recently kicked off this series with Juilliard graduate Alex McDonald, who competed in the 2013 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition and captivated the audience at The Stayton with his classical music performance. This event set the tone for the holiday season as guests enjoyed an assortment of festive appetizers, holiday tea and champagne.

“We look forward to welcoming more amazingly talented individuals like Alex McDonald through The Stayton Cliburn Recital Series,” said Scott Polzin, executive director of The Stayton at Museum Way. “Many listen to and appreciate classical music, but watching the musician perform those challenging pieces live and seeing the way his hands moved so quickly over the piano keys was truly an incredible experience for all of us in attendance.”

The staff members at The Stayton are strong believers in the positive effects that studies have shown music, particularly classical music, can have on individuals. Benefits that most people experience from classical music include improved memory, sharper concentration and reduced stress levels, which are ideal results for older adults.

“The Stayton is proud to offer this new series and continue to demonstrate how passionate our staff members are about providing cultural life experiences for older adults at this state-of-the-art continuing care retirement community in Fort Worth,” said Polzin.
