Team Ortho Foundation is proud to bring back the DFW Monster Dash Half Marathon, 10K and 5K fun run to North Texas on Halloween morning at Panther Island Pavilion in Ft. Worth. Taking second place in Shape Magazine’s 2014 list of Top 10 Costume Races in the U.S., the event takes local health nuts and first-time runners and walkers alike along the fast and friendly Trinity River Trail. Online registration is available now through Oct. 29 at www.dfwmonster.org.

“We can’t think of a better way for family and friends to get together on Halloween,” said John Larson, executive director and founder of the nonprofit Team Ortho Foundation, which supports orthopedic research and education. “It’s a great way for people to balance ‘candy overload’ and feel a little less guilty with a nice, healthy walk or run.”

The competition continues post-race as adults, children and groups battle it out for the top three best costumes in each category. Every participant goes home with a one-of-a-kind stained glass medal and a full-zip jacket and can enjoy a variety of treats, refreshments and entertainment. Finishers 21 and up can even toast to each other’s victory with complimentary beer generously provided by a local brewery.

“We’re excited to have chosen the Dallas-Ft. Worth area for our first races outside of the Midwest,” said Larson, who also produces the women-only DFW Women ROCK fun run on Nov. 21 in Plano. “The Monster Dash epitomizes our mission at Team Ortho in so many ways - a healthy lifestyle, fun and support for a great cause – which is what our Texas participants have shown they are all about, too.”

Online registration and more information about the DFW Monster Dash are available at www.dfwmonster.org.
